Pre Race Brief

Dear Competitor,

Welcome to St.Neots Riverside Half Marathon & Fun Run Race Brief. Please take the time to read and understand the following Pre race Brief. I know you have probably read hundreds of these, but it is important that you understand our requirements and that which are required by the governing bodies.

Distances: 13.1 mile road race
Venue: Ernulf School, Barford Rd, Saint Neots, Cambridgeshire PE19 2SA VIEW ON GOOGLE MAPS

The weather seems as though it could be kind to you with a dry start and a tad chilly with light winds but as with all British weather this is subject to change….

Online entries and transfers are now closed. (There will be NO entries or transfers on the day of the race. Please let you friends know not to turn up expecting an entry or transfer)

Age: Minimum age of competitors is 17 on the day.

Parking: Open from 07:45am. It will be in the School grounds / industrial areas. Please follow signs and marshal instructions. 

Parking is very limited please try to travel together where possible

 

REGISTRATION

RACE DAY COLLECTION

Open from 08:00am In the School Sports hall next to the school field parking. (FOLLOW ALL REGISTRATION SIGNAGE) follow the signs from the car parks, here you will collect your running number. Your timing chip will already be attached to the number please do not bend, fold or put pins through chip, please remember to wear your race number,

NO RACE NUMBER = NO TIME

Registration for the main race will close promptly at 09:30am, so ensure you leave in plenty of time and please understand there are 1000 other athletes and fun runners also registering, so please dont leave it till the last minute.

VERY IMPORTANT: If you arrive after 09:30am you will not be able to register.

Please note: Nothing will be posted to you; registration is on the day only. Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to register and prepare yourselves (The race will start at 10:00 am with or without you).

FUN RUN REGISTRATION

Open from 08:00 am in the School Sports hall next to the school field parking.(FOLLOW ALL REGISTRATION SIGNAGE), here you will collect your running number. Your timing chip will already be attached to the number please do not bend, fold or put pins through the chip, please remember to wear your race number, NO RACE NUMBER = NO TIME

Registration for the fun run will close promptly at 08:45am, so ensure you leave in plenty of time 

If you arrive after 08:45am you will not be able to register.

HALF MARATHON COURSE

Follows an undulating but scenic all road route, which passes through Abbotsley, the edge of Waresley, before heading back through Abbotsley and back towards St.Neots.

Be advised this is NOT totally traffic free route. The route to 5.5 miles is traffic free. Once you get to warsley turn it is mandatory that you stay in the left hand carriageway at all times, anyone seen crossing the centre white line from here on will be disqualified, there are officials on bikes checking for this, you have been warned.

There will be toilets available for use at approx 9 miles in Abbotsley Village Hall.

Water Stations: Are situated at approximately 3 miles, 6.5 miles, 9 miles and 11.2 miles and at the finish. (These are all water bottles only with the lids removed.)
 
Personal Race Fluid and Nutrition: If you carry and use gels or other types of nutrition while running. Please discard the wrappers at the water stations, course signage or the bottle dump bags after each water station. If you can carry it full, you can carry it empty. 

Sorry, but anyone caught discarding litter outside the drop zones will be disqualified and their results removed. (please respect the countryside and do your bit for the enviroment)

FIRST AID

Medical services Ltd will be providing first aid cover for the event. If you are injured or witness a fellow competitor getting injured please alert the nearest marshal who will call for assistance, there are marshals out on the course whom are first aid trained. If another athlete becomes seriously ill please do you best to help. There will be a medical station at 3 and 9 miles on route and at the start and finish. (Please ensure you complete your  medical & contact information on the back of your race number.)

Main Race Presentation: When the last runner has finished or 12:30 hrs in the sports hall where registration took place. If you want your prize please stay or arrange for some to collect in your absence

FINISH AREA

At the finish you will find refreshments and you will be given your well deserved finishers medal.

SPECTATORS

The start and finish will be well marshaled and cordoned for your safety. please don't climb on the barriers. For those that want to watch your runner out on the course there is a car park with toilets and refreshments at Abbotsley village hall (3 and 9 miles same spot) please follow the signs

If you wish to drive to Abbotsley to view the race, please remember to leave prior to 09:45am before the road is closed for the start of the race. Once the last runner has come through at 3 miles the road will be reopened.

 PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE COURSE OR GRASS VERGES

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Toilets & Changing:
Toilet facilities are available at the registration and start/finish area, please ensure you try to use them prior to going to the start area as there will only be 2 units there. 

Baggage storage will be available if required. Your baggage tag is attached to the bottom of your race number. Use this facility at your own risk we accept no responsibility for lose or damage however so caused.

Refreshments: available at registration and after the race.

The race will be run according to the UKA rules. Anyone breaking the rules will be penalised and may be disqualified..

The race referee’s / race directors decision is final.
